ANZ Mid-Year Sales Conference 2025: Fostering Collaboration and Advancing Sustainability

In July, the ANZ Sales and Marketing teams met at the Sydney office for the Mid-Year Meeting to share insights, align strategies, and connect as a team. Wee Chin, Clinical Education & Training Manager, opened with an update on surgical trends and gown selection. The Marketing team shared competitor updates, campaign results, and blind product testing insights, while a light-hearted team game helped strengthen connections.

The Sales team compared competitor gloves with Halyard’s, gaining valuable market insights to inform future strategies.

A highlight of the conference was the focus on ESG and sustainability. Dane Clapson (Director, Legal APAC) and Lisa McKee (Director, Marketing, Strategy & Communications, International Markets) outlined our sustainability action plan, followed by an engaging virtual session with David Russell, Sustainable Procurement Implementation Manager, NSW Health, on low-carbon procurement and supplier expectations.

Giving Back: Sales Team Volunteers at Ronald McDonald House

As part of the ANZ Mid-Year Meeting in July, the Sales team dedicated time to volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Sydney, preparing meals for families with children receiving hospital care.

The team rolled up their sleeves to cook meals, creating a welcoming environment for families facing some of their toughest moments. It was a heartfelt and rewarding experience, filled with teamwork, compassion, and connection—clearly reflected in the smiles captured in the photo!

This initiative highlights O&M Halyard’s commitment to supporting our communities and making a difference beyond the workplace. Volunteering together not only gave the team a chance to give back but also strengthened bonds and reminded everyone of the power of small actions to create meaningful impact.

Team Japan: KOL Meeting in Yokohama – Key Insights

On July 11, team Japan hosted a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) meeting in Yokohama, bringing together six experts as a follow-up to last year’s session. The meeting began with a review of previous discussions and updates on initiatives, including progress on clinical papers and case reports.

A key focus was the proper use of gloves in clinical settings, including evaluation of the “wet-don” glove prototype. The KOLs offered valuable feedback on glove usage practices, cost considerations, and alignment with clinical guidelines.

The discussions revealed a notable gap between end-user expectations and manufacturer perspectives, offering fresh insights for future product development. The session emphasised the importance of ongoing dialogue with clinical experts in shaping practical and compliant solutions tailored to healthcare needs.

Empowering Sales Through Clinical Insights

On 14 September, the final session (Part 3) of the sales training series was held at Kurume University Hospital, hosted by Ms. Miura. She welcomed Ms. Keiko Kondo, Infection Control Nurse from Iwate Medical University Hospital, as the guest speaker.

Ms. Kondo’s lecture focused on regional collaboration activities within Iwate Prefecture, particularly infection control measures during disasters and the challenges faced in the field. Following the lecture and discussion, Ms. Miura and Ms. Kondo addressed numerous questions from the Japan Sales Team, including current initiatives and the types of support expected from suppliers.

The training provided valuable insights into customer needs and encouraged the sales team to reflect on how they can offer enhanced support to customers. All three sessions of the Sales Training series led by Ms. Miura delivered a highly practical and engaging experience.

O&M Halyard India Launches First BIS-Compliant Nitrile Exam Gloves

In August, O&M Halyard Health India achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its first BIS-compliant nitrile exam gloves. These gloves are the first to be manufactured in India under the “Marketed and Distributed by” model, aligning with Indian Bureau of Standards (BIS) regulations.

To ensure a successful rollout, pre-launch activities included training sessions and quizzes to engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) and raise awareness about the importance of certified protection. A special online session on August 20 brought together 20 channel partners, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing. The launch was further celebrated with a glove-themed cake cutting at partner offices.

The Pune office hosted a launch event on August 26, uniting key teams from O&M Halyard and IT. Marketing Manager Reena George highlighted the strategic approach to localised compliance, while General Manager Pankaj Thakral recognised the team’s efforts. Hemant Bhardwaj shared insights into future product plans, and global leaders Snehashish Sarkar and Nicholas Piecora joined virtually to extend their best wishes.

During the workshop, Ms. Siti from our distributor Lumiere Sdn. Bhd. delivered an insightful presentation on “Ideal Packaging to Reduce Infections in CSSD,” featuring Halyard Sterilization Wraps. Team Japan attended the 40th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society for Infection Prevention and Control, held from 10 to 12 July at Pacifico Yokohama. As one of the largest and most important conferences in infection control, it attracted over 6,700 healthcare professionals, including doctors and infection control nurses (ICNs) from across Japan.

During the event, the team launched new product, HALYARD* SKYBREEZE* Nitrile Exam Glove, generating 44 leads. We also set up a dedicated chemotherapy glove section to promote best practices such as double-gloving and the use of PPE tested for resistance against hazardous drugs. These activities sparked interest and led to sample requests for HALYARD* PINK UNDERGUARD* and PURPLE NITRILE XTRA* gloves.

Additionally, the booth design prominently featured the HALYARD brand, incorporating glove dispenser box graphics on the walls to enhance brand visibility and recognition. Overall, the event successfully combined product launch, customer engagement, and brand promotion.

The 25th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society of Nursing Care and Infection Control was held in Fukuoka on 23–24 August. The Japan team co-sponsored a luncheon seminar, featuring Ms. Minako Mitsui, Infection Control Nurse from Kumamoto Shinto General Hospital, as a speaker, and Ms. Miho Miura from Kurume University Hospital as moderator.

The lecture highlighted infection prevention measures and the importance of stockpiling in healthcare facilities, drawing on Ms. Mitsui’s experience during major earthquakes and heavy rain disasters.

CAHO iPROTECT CONCLAVE SERIES | JULY–AUGUST 2025 | INDIA

Between July and August 2025, O&M Halyard India, in collaboration with the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO), successfully conducted a series of iPROTECT Conclaves across leading hospitals in India. These sessions focused on “Healthcare Professional Safety and Protection in the OR Environment”, reinforcing the importance of selecting the right PPE, understanding medical device regulations, and ensuring compliance to infection control standards.

Each conclave featured expert faculty, engaging panel discussions, pre- and post-session quizzes, and live PPE donning and doffing demonstrations by OT teams. Over 250 healthcare professionals from infection control, quality, OT, and supply chain departments participated and received certificates signed by CAHO.

The Japan team held an engaging sales training session with KOL Ms. Miho Miura, Infection Control Nurse from Kurume University Hospital. The session featured a “Business War Game”, where Halyard and competitor teams battled it out in a head- to-head presentation. Team HALYARD’s team showcased the PINK UNDERGUARD and 12” gloves* with standout communication and product knowledge and won the challenge.
 Ms. Miura raised a clinical challenge with visor mask dispensers, sparking real-time solutions from our reps and valuable feedback.

Baking Bonds – Heartfelt CSR Initiative

On June 18, 2025, the O&M Halyard Malaysia team traded their usual office routines for aprons and mixing bowls during a heartfelt volunteer session at Bake with Dignity, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering adults with learning disabilities through baking.Bake with Dignity, based in Petaling Jaya, provides sheltered employment opportunities for adults with learning disabilities, equipping them with baking skills and fostering independence.
During the session, O&M Halyard employees collaborated with the bakery’s team, engaging in activities from kneading dough to packaging baked goods. This hands-on experience offered a unique opportunity for team members to connect with individuals from different walks of life, emphasizing the importance of inclusion and community engagement.

Our Singapore team recently took part in a blood‑donation drive at the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) Bloodbank, underscoring our commitment to community wellbeing. Blood donation is critical in Singapore, where about 400 units are needed every day to meet hospital demand

Introducing New Leadership for India 

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Pankaj Thakral as the new General Manager for India and South Asia. With over 27 years of experience in healthcare and life sciences, Pankaj brings strong leadership in driving growth and business transformation.

He has demonstrated a strong track record in driving sustainable growth, managing P&L, and leading large-scale business operations. He is known for his strategic leadership, effective cross-functional collaboration, and exceptional ability to drive business transformation across diverse market.

Pankaj holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from Punjabi University, Patiala, and a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Sciences from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He also completed an Executive Programme in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
Pankaj will be succeeding Hemant Bhardwaj, who, after over six years of invaluable contributions and exemplary dedication, will now focus on special projects for the APAC region.

At COPHEX, Korea’s leading Cosmetics and Pharmaceutical Exhibit in Seoul, our team alongside two distributors engaged with over 500 visitors, generating 90+ high-potential leads now being actively followed up by distributor sales teams. The EMA Halyard team recently collaborated with United Italian Corporation (UIC), our Hong Kong distributor, to conduct a two-day Competency Refresher and Goal-Setting Workshop. The sessions focused on our top four growth drivers and introduced new sales tools, including the 5-step Gloves Inservice SOP and the Surgical Interactive Tool.
In Singapore, during Hand Hygiene Week, our team showcased the importance of “It’s What You Can’t See That Matters” with our gloves and PPE product offerings. Through an innovative Play-Doh demonstration, we highlighted the presence of fillers in gloves, emphasizing the critical role of proper glove selection in infection prevention.

The 13th Annual Meeting of the Infection Control Network of Japan brought together around 1,480 Infection Control Nurses (ICNs) nationwide to discuss topics such as infection control practices, hand hygiene, surveillance, and career development. At the HALYARD booth, we showcased our chemotherapy gloves—PINK UNDERGUARD and PURPLE XTRA—alongside standard exam gloves including LAVENDER, AQUASOFT, and STERLING. A booth survey revealed strong recognition of double gloving’s importance but limited awareness of PINK UNDERGUARD, making this event a valuable platform to raise product awareness and reinforce HALYARD’s role in infection prevention and exposure control.

Between April and June, the O&M Halyard India team, in collaboration with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organization
(CAHO), successfully conducted six iPROTECT Conclaves across major hospitals in Delhi, Bangalore, Kochi, and Pune. These high-impact sessions brought together over healthcare professionals including surgeons, anesthetists, infection control experts, nursing leaders, and procurement heads.
Each conclave focused on HCP safety in the OT environment, the importance of selecting the right PPE, and ensuring compliance with medical device regulations and infection prevention standards.

From powerful insights on healthcare procurement to hands-on infection control training by key opinion leader (KOL), oncology training, and a high-energy “Surgery Interactive Showdown,” Team Australia’s kick-off event set a bold tone for the year ahead —celebrating excellence and strengthening the shared vision of “Building Together“. The kick-off featured a talk by Mr. Ty Bailey, National Procurement Manager – Clinical at Calvary Healthcare, on the role of procurement in healthcare. Sessions covered best practices, sales training, and focused oncology discussions. A highlight was the Infection Control session with KOL Ms. Glenys Harrington, offering practical applications and a “Train-the-Trainer” session.

Team O&M Halyard India set the tone for a successful 2025 with its Annual Conference held in March at the Owens & Minor Halyard Corporate Office in Pune. The event was a dynamic mix of training sessions, focusing on both the Halyard Hospital and Industrial segment portfolios, as well as marketing strategies.
The conference culminated in a memorable Awards & Recognition Ceremony, where the exceptional achievements of the top performers in 2024 were celebrated.
This year’s theme, “OWN IT!”, inspired all teammates to take ownership of the three strategic levers that will drive success in 2025: Customer Empowerment, Talent Development, and Profitable Growth.

Team EMA’s 2025 kick-off in Malaysia featured distributor training, team-building, interactive workshops and a valuable session by KOL Dr. Salihin on occupational exposure to antineoplastic drugs. The conference wrapped up with goal-setting and a creative batik session celebrating unity and progress.

The event opened with a full-day distributor training focused on gloves, wipes, CPP, and chemotherapy solutions. Hands-on activities like crafting with playdough while wearing different glove types, jigsaw puzzles on surgical collateral, and a CPP draping activity helped deepen product knowledge in a fun, interactive way. Dr. Salihin’s session on chemotherapy PPE protection and compliance offered a clinical edge to the discussions, backed by data and insight into healthcare practices. In another highlight, Salman Amin from our HR team led a Clifton Strengths session where teammates explored individual talents and how to better support one another — culminating in a shared team objective: “How to Best Support One Another.”

Plenary reflections from each function offered clarity on 2024 learnings and 2025 goals, reinforcing collaboration. The event closed with a batik painting session inspired by this year’s theme, Building Together — a vibrant celebration of teamwork and unity.

Japan Kick-off Meeting | Tokyo, April 24–25, 2025

The Japan team came together in Tokyo for a two-day kick-off meeting under the inspiring theme “GROWTH – Creating the Future through Evolution and Growth.”

Our new General Manager, Taka san set the tone by declaring 2025 as the “Year of Evolution and Choice,” emphasising the importance of identifying both the value we must consistently deliver to the market and the challenges we must boldly undertake.

Each function leader shared their vision of what “GROWTH” means for their team and the critical challenges they need to address to achieve it.

The meeting also included  recognising outstanding sales achievements, providing an opportunity to honour top-performing teammates and strengthen connections across the business. Cross-functional workshop sessions enabled active discussions on ways to enhance cost-efficiency, increase productivity, and accelerate growth, from both individual and organisational viewpoints.

Across the two-day event, we seized the opportunity to connect with key decision-makers, generate high-quality leads, and showcase the superior performance and protection of our surgical solutions—leaving a lasting impression on attendees.

Live demonstrations, hands-on product trials, and one-on-one discussions enabled meaningful conversations around safety, comfort, and performance in the OR. Key discussions included inconsistent PPE use, MRSA risks, and rising adoption of “Gloves Off” policies. Dr. Hayden Snow highlighted waste reduction through reusable drapes. Our ANZ team responded by raising awareness of the hazards associated with reusable surgical gowns — using Leave Linen campaign with microscope to highlight the limitations of reusable options and by launching appropriate glove-use campaign to promote safe, sustainable practices.

On March 22nd, O&M Halyard Team India made a significant stride in its 2025 strategy by focusing on Clinical Education to drive value beyond products. In association with Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO), a reputed medical organisation, O&M Halyard hosted the iPROTECT CXO Roundtable in Delhi, bringing together 14 visionary CXOs from leading hospital groups. The half-day event focused on healthcare professional safety and evolving medical device regulations in India. The objective was to bring to the forefront healthcare professional safety and protection in the backdrop of evolving medical device regulations and standards in India. The carefully crafted half day program drew out deliberations, experiences and suggestions that can relook into and shape policies and conversations on Healthcare professional (HCP) safety.
Change begins with powerful conversations—and the CXOs, with candour and conviction, shared their perspectives on reimagining protection for frontline professionals. A summary of the discussion will be featured in the CAHO magazine to amplify these voices across the healthcare community.

This meeting kickstarts a series of cascade meetings planned in 20 key accounts this year, aligned with our strategic imperative to accelerate awareness and policy changes around HCP safety and compliance with medical device regulations.

The team initiated content development in January, bringing together experts from CAHO and O&M Halyard to create curated materials focused on case scenarios, medical device regulations, and guidelines for selecting appropriate PPE. The expert panel included CEOs, infection control specialists, microbiologists, surgeons, OT nurses, testing labs, and purchase heads—ensuring a well-rounded stakeholder perspective.

As part of our strategic initiative to grow in the aged care segment, the O&M Halyard Singapore team—Tina Chen, Aimee Kwan, and Jonathan Tan—secured and led a product demonstration for ECON Healthcare, which operates nine Medicare centres and nursing homes across Singapore.

Attended by all Centre Heads, Managers, and Quality/Infection Control staff, the session showcased our AQUASOFT* SmartPull* dispensing technology, with a focus on minimising cross-contamination, reducing glove bricking, and preventing wastage. O&M Halyard Japan recently participated in two major oncology events in Japan’s —the 39th Annual Conference of the Japanese Society of Cancer Nursing in Hokkaido, which welcomed over 4,000 certified and expert cancer nurses, and the Japanese Society of Medical Oncology Annual Meeting in Kobe, drawing more than 6,800 healthcare professionals including doctors, pharmacists, and nurses.

With chemotherapy as a key focus area, our team showcased the HALYARD* PINK UNDERGUARD* and HALYARD* PURPLE NITRILE-XTRA* gloves along with our Chemotherapy gowns. Attendees were invited to experience the quality of our PPE first-hand at the booth.
