During the one hour webinar, she will highlight advancements in materials, design, and safety features.

• explore the innovations in surgical gown technology, focusing on how they enhance infection prevention and safety in the operating room.
3. Apply current standards and technologies in surgical gown design, gown selection and disposal:
• identify relevant national and international standards for the development of surgical gowns
• understand the importance of choosing the appropriate gown for different surgical procedures and how proper gown selection can improve patient and surgical team safety.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Menna Davies is an independent Nurse Consultant. She works with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to support Pacific perioperative nursing students pursuing postgraduate studies through the Australian College of Nursing. She co-developed the ‘Standards for Perioperative Nursing in Pacific Island Countries and Territories’ from 2016 to 2021. Menna also contributed to the 3rd edition of ‘Perioperative Nursing: An Introduction’ in 2022. With a rich history, she is a Life Member and former President of the NSW Operating Theatre Association (NSW OTA). She represented NSW on the ACORN Board and convened the ACORN National Conference in 1995. In 2004, Menna received the inaugural ACORN Excellence in Perioperative Nursing Award and is an Honorary Fellow of ACORN. In 2012, she presented the Judith Cornell Oration at the ACORN Conference in Darwin, NT.
